The Brush of Life

Rory dipped his fox hair brush into the brilliant white oil and gingerly dropped a single point of light onto the horn of the unicorn he was painting. Then the regal beast jumped off the canvas, galloped around the room three times, gave a spirited whinny, and disappeared into the night.

Erma howled with delight, her giggles filling the nursery as she watched from her bed.

“More!” she yelled. 

“That’s enough now,” he said. “Time for bed.”
